Social and Community Participation

At MDSS we do love social and community activities, and recognise that in a small country town it can be hard to meet new people or find some interesting and fun activities to choose from. We encourage community activities and work with the Mudgee community to provide a range of interesting things to do!

Each month we develop a monthly calendar, and this means you can pick and choose your activities without being ‘locked’ into a day program if you don’t want to be.

Social Program weekly activities include:

  • Cultural Program – learning about a new culture each month which incorporates the history, arts and crafts, sewing and cooking of that culture.
  • Woodwork and Furniture restoration – creating your own personal woodwork item and group furniture restoration.
  • All About Animals – learning about different animals each month, coinciding with Cultural Program which includes fun activities.
  • Independent Living Skills – Learning all those important skills needed to live independently or with family/carers from fire safety, personal hygiene, personal safety and much, much more.
  • Cooking Program – Not only learning cooking skills, but being introduced to a variety of different healthy meals and snacks.
  • Lawn Bowls with Alan – Club Mudgee
  • Zumba with Ingrid – Countryfit Gym
  • Meditation with Loretta – Oaktree Mudgee
  • Pottery with Trevor – Lue Pottery
  • Monthly Social Darts night
  •  Monthly Tenpin Bowling – Bathurst
  • Monthly Open Mic Night – The Brewery
  • Friday Social Night
  • Weekend outings twice per month
